Department of Professional Practice
KPMG’s Department of Professional Practice (DPP) monitors and ensures compliance with financial reporting requirements. The department’s primary responsibility is to proactively assist audit and non-audit clients as well as KPMG staff to determine the most appropriate accounting treatments and disclosures. This is done via various avenues:

Audit Team Support
Financial Reporting Publications
Involvement with regulators and standard setters
DPP is involved with various national standard setters, including SAICA and regulators. The department participates in public debate and responds to requests for comments on standards and rule proposals. KPMG representatives serve on committees and working groups that support the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) projects and national standard setters.
DPP is also part of KPMG’s worldwide International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) network and has direct access to KPMG’s global IFRS knowledge and resource centre, known as the International Financial Reporting Group (IFR Group). KPMG has a dedicated IFRS Website, which includes publications, tools and information.
